April 30 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Ladies Voices formed in September 2019. It is a group of positive, engaged and supportive women who enjoy singing and want to be the best they can be. The group is versatile and sings a range of styles of music to include pop, rock and musical theatre.
Given that the group only formed just before the start of the pandemic, it is testament to the members that the group has really developed in capability despite the many challenges. During the last two years the group sang with Jenn Bostic for a sellout concert in the Civic Hall and they have held a number of successful concerts in Dronfield Parish Church raising significant sums of money for charities including CRY, Action for Children, Young Lives vs Cancer, Baby Basics and Roundabout Sheffield. The group has adapted and used IT to support its evolution and development and this has enabled them to perform concerts both indoors and outdoors, and to live stream on their YouTube channel, such that people were able to watch from all around the world.
Our concert for this Arts Festival event will be in two halves. The first half will include a mixture of contemporary items, mainly from musical theatre. The second half will pick up the theme of the event and focus on repertoire from the 1940s to include music by The Andrews Sisters, Vera Lynn and some wartime favourites.
We are making tickets available for just £5 to help make the concert as accessible as possible and in the hope that this will help us achieve a full audience for the first time since before the pandemic! Please do come along and support us.
